shwack!

shwack! is all about building a unique repository of diverse, free, entertaining, stimulating, fun and memorable art, music, film, video, literature, articles, and any combinations possible therein.

It’s really open ended, but essentially, if you want a place to put your indie filmmaking where it’s going to be differentiated from all of the bulk of nonsense currently on sites like Youtube and Flickr, then shwack is for you. If you have a webcomic but don’t want to bother running your own website, you will have a built-in audience on shwack. If you want to work collaboratively with others on a multi-media-facted project, the forums are in place and are a great resource for this.

Anyone can get involved in the project simply by uploading their content to the site. The first step to doing that is to register for a user account. After doing this you will be able to submit your materials in our web forum, and the editors of the site will add all acceptable user-submitted content (that is fit to blog) to the main site in an organized, tagged, visitor-friendly interface.

Once your content is on our site, it’s virally active.  You will get viewers from the forums, our main blog, syndicated subscribers from our RSS feeds, webcam-video feedback from our other members (because our blog is audio-video enabled thanks to Riffly.com’s free service) and hits from visitors to our mobile-phone friendly version of the website.  Our page is SEO-friendly and as time goes on we will only grow!

Nothing financial going on, nobody loses ownership of their stuff, and nobody has to share any information that they don’t want to put up on the website.  The forums are pretty much a free-for-all but there is some spam filtering in place.  In the next few weeks things will develop into a more cohesive and useable website.
